Such a great quote! Les Mis is full of gems like that. Unfortunately you have to read through endless descriptions of things to find them. That was a sign of the times, though. Overall, it was a very long and slow read, but so worth it. The ending was beautiful. If you have the patience, I highly recommend it!

Thank you Alison. I did like the bbc miniseries. Iβve always been intimidated because of how big the book is. I do look forward to reading it though once Iβve got time to (I want to read Far From the Madding Crowd first)

I actually read Les Mis spread out over a 2 year time period. With the neverending descriptions, it could get quite dull at times. Far From the Madding Crowd is a much easier read and a good one, too. Hope you enjoy it!

I haven’t read the book yet, but it is on my TBR. I believe Audible have the audiobook for free at the moment so I might give that a go. If you haven’t seen the stage show I would thoroughly recommend it though, but just make sure you have a packet of tissues at the ready!
