What I’m Reading This Week.
I am a mood reader so it’s hard for me to stick with reading just one book at a time. I had to create a new reading shelf on my GoodReads account to help me track all the books that I was reading (55 books).
Before quarantine I was lucky enough to check out about a dozen books from the library. Most of those is the books from my Was Reading Shelf.
Here is my library books that I’ve been reading and shelved for later:
If Not For You by Debbie Macomber. A Netgalley arc book. I love Debbie Macomber but this one is taking me forever to read. The characters are sweet. It’s just the story feels like a short novella stretched out into a full story novel. But ok, now that I’ve got so much time available right now, I am determined to finish this!
Tower of Thorns by Juliet Marillier (Book 2 in the Blackthorn & Grim trilogy). I really enjoyed the first book in this trilogy by Juliet, Dreamer’s Pool. I was introduced to this author thanks to my library’s Blind Date with a Book challenge. I read Dreamer’s Pool last year and I still haven’t finished reading Tower of Thorns yet. Yet!! I will this month. I hope!
The Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes. I started reading this in 2018 for a reading challenge. It is a short book but not my usual genre. I saw about half of the movie at that time and thought this book might be a quick read for a challenge. It wasn’t. I have sense then been reading it off and on very slowly.
Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris (Sookie Stackhouse book 1). Sookie. Sookie. Sookie. What can I say about this series that hasn’t already been spoiled by the HBO show True Blood? My sisters were big fans of that show. I found it comical. 3 years ago I thought I’d start reading it… I’m still working on the beginning of this book. I’m using my library’s Overdrive ebooks to save space for other physical book I am reading. The first episode of True Blood has spoiled everything for me.
Winter’s Tale by Mark Helprin. I love love loved the movie. It was so magical. I did want to read the book before I saw the movie back in 2014. Get this though, the book is 748 pages!!! I read about 150 pages before giving up and finally seeing the movie. The writing of this book is so long and descriptive. I do want to finish reading this sometime soon. Maybe when I’m less intimidated by the size of it. The audiobook is even over 20 hours long! I might see the movie again and then try reading where I felt off at.
Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister by Gregory Maguire. Yup, another because of the movie I was reading the book. Trying to at least. I read about 100 pages into this retelling of Cinderella. My younger sister really liked the first book in Wicked, so I thought I’d give this book a try… 4 years ago. I saw the movie and I loved it!! Matthew Goode is a favorite actor of mine and I loved him in the movie!! I highly recommend seeing the movie just for Matthew.
I read more out of my TBR. But sometimes, I read depending on my mood too.

I’ve tried sticking to a tbr but I found it less enjoyable so I just went ahead and read what I wanted when I wanted.

There are lot of books which I start simultaneously, some I complete, some just lie on my shelf.
But, I love reading!
