Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

The Prequel to The Hunger Games.

Happy Hunger Games. And may the odds be forever in your favor.

Happy #tbrTuesday. The next book on my immediate tbr (to-be-read) is The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins. It’s the prequel to The Hunger Games trilogy. I have been anticipating this book since I heard about it’s release.

This trilogy has a lot of nostalgia for me. I read the books with my grandfather, whom I took care of for 10 years. We really liked Katniss Everdeen and her anti-hero attitude. My Gramps was 87 when he died. His passing was really tough and I still miss him. I also recently lost a pet that was my Gramps and then mine. Peanut was 16 y.o. and an adorable small poodle. Loosing Peanut in February was another reminder of loosing my Gramps. They were both my best friends and book buddies. Reading the Hunger Games books again has been a happy reminder of them.

I preordered the hardcover book on Amazon and because of quarantine I will not get my copy until Thursday… so I went ahead and got the kindle edition because I so want to start reading this like now!!

So here I am, already rewatching the Hunger Games movies. And I’ve got my books ready for a reread after I read the new book. I reread the books last year so they are somewhat still fresh with me. As I am rewatching the movies I am comparing it a lot with the books. But this is a movie so of course the timeline in the story of the book is all condensed to fit the time length of a 2 1/2 hour film… though I still don’t see why they chose to expand the 3rd book into 2 movies… guess it was just the popular thing at the time thanks to the expansion of the last Harry Potter book.

Are you going to be reading The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins? Are you a fan of the Hunger Games?
